May 4, 2013 — Master gardener and certified arborist, Debbie Cook, reminds us that the average frost date here in the Northwest is May 10, 2013. Your cabbage, peas and other cold crops should be fine, but Debbie really wants you to wait to mid to late May to plant your tender vegetables like tomatoes, peppers and squash. Label reading is very important this time of year. Even if you use the same fertilizers year after year, she highly encourages you to read, read and re-read before you apply.
